Make Tea Time Fancy!

4:43 PM

With Mother's day coming up, I've been thinking a lot about how far away I am from my mom. She lives in Pennsylvania and I live in Georgia, so I don't get home to see her as often as I'd like. My mom is always stressing the importance of taking time for yourself, and one of the ways she does that is to sit with tea and a snack and just relax. With that in mind, I made a mini watercolor banner that is super easy to stick into whatever snack you made and make every afternoon a mini celebration just for you!

I made some very messy s'mores, but I should probably mention that Mom advocates healthier snacks, like a fresh peach or a handful of butter-free popcorn.

Over the weekend, I sat outside and painted random watercolor designs on watercolor paper. I don't have much painting ability, so I just made random blobs of color and pattern, trying to stick to a color scheme of greens, blues, and purples.

It was pretty relaxing sitting out in the sun, painting somewhat aimlessly while my neighbors illegally grill in the center of the parking lot, that summer smell of barbecuing meat wafting up to my porch. Plus I was rather giddy to use my brand new hole banner-shape hole punch! (Some day I'm going to start my own hole punch fan club where we basically gush to each other about all the paper shapes we can make.)

Once I had a bunch of banner shapes cut out, I put them on mini clothespins (so cute) and strung them on a leftover piece of ribbon. Cutting two wooden skewers down to about 6", I tied each end of the string to a grill skewer.

This is soooo easy and it makes your afternoon snack seem like an event worthy of celebration. Tea time is me time, people!
